An Independent voice for
District 8

A voice for those left behind by partisan politics.

Hi. I’m Alisa.

For years, I’ve served our community - from NSL City Council to school Community Council, Planning Commission to PTA President, and university teaching to Girl Scout Troop leading.

As a city councilmember, I am proud to work on neighborhood-focused community engagement with events like Latino Heritage, Juneteenth and Pride. I have worked to connect east and west side schools with community resources and supported excellent wages and benefits for city employees and public safety officers. I’ve practiced non-partisan problem solving and collaboration. Now I’m ready to represent you in the Utah State Senate.

If you’re like me, you are tired of partisan fighting, extremism and party loyalty over practical problem-solving. Choose a leader who will listen to both sides and the moderate middle, not a political party.

My Goal:
Disrupt the Supermajority

Our government is designed using a 2-party system where the 3 branches of government balance each other. When it’s working, both political parties have a voice in debate. When it’s working, the executive and judicial branches can check the power of the legislature.

The current system is NOT WORKING.

The GOP holds a supermajority of seats in the Senate (over 75%). With a supermajority, GOP leaders DO NOT need to listen to the other side when creating policy. They do not need to compromise. They do not have to worry about the executive branch veto because they can vote to override. And they continue to misuse this power.

Alisa is the ONLY difference maker in this race. The only candidate who can actually DISRUPT the supermajority. A vote for Alisa sends a message that we are tired of politicians who don’t listen and a political system that is broken.

A vote to disrupt the status quo.

Why REPUBLICANS are voting for Alisa:

Republicans voting for Alisa are tired of party extremism and want to bring back priorities that used to matter, like small government and individual rights. They have watched while the Republican party has become more extreme. They are fed up with power grabs and culture wars.

They know that a vote for ANY republican legislator is a vote for the ENTIRE SUPERMAJORITY. They know Alisa is experienced, solution-focused, and committed to collaboration.

If you miss a more moderate Republican party, VOTE ALISA and show your GOP leaders that you WANT more moderate representation.

Why DEMOCRATS are voting for Alisa:

Democrats voting for Alisa are tired of not having a seat at the table in the legislature. In Davis County (which is 80% of District 8), there has not been an elected Democrat legislator for decades. In SL County, Democrats have been gerrymandered into a district where only 16% of voters are registered Democrats.

The supermajority in the Utah Senate, means Republican lawmakers can pass legislation without input from the Democrats, essentially silencing Democratic voters.

Democrats voting for Alisa know that she is experienced in non-partisan collaboration, and an advocate for education, labor, LGBTQ issues, government accountability.

If you are tired of Democrats being silenced at the legislature, VOTE ALISA. We can change THIS Senate seat, THIS election cycle.

Why INDEPENDENTS and others are voting for Alisa:

Independent, unaffiliated and 3rd Party voters are choosing Alisa because they are tired of being left out of the 2-party system. They know it’s time for an independent voice to have a seat at the table; a voice that represents a large portion of District 8 voters.

Voter affiliation in District 8:
Unaffiliated and 3rd party - 36%
Democrat - 16%

Republican - 48%

They know Alisa is experienced in non-partisan leadership, and she is ready to listen and take action on issues that matter to voters like clean air and an ethical government.

If you are ready for an independent voice at the legislature, VOTE ALISA for a new, independent voice at the table.

But can an
Independent WIN?

YES! In District 8, there more unaffiliated and 3rd party voters than registered Democrats. If moderate voters from both parties, chose a moderate candidate, an independent CAN win.

In fact, recent polling* shows Alisa is within 5 points of the incumbent. This is winnable.
